    District Special Branch is the eye and ear of District Police. The unit is functioning as per the directions and guidelines noted in Special Branch Manual. The main duties of the unit are collection and dissemination of intelligence input, surveillance of Foreigners particularly Pakistan and Bangladeshi Nationals, Watch of State Security Suspects, Political, Communal and other Goondas and fundamentalists, Monitoring Maoist activities, Verification of character and antecedents of individuals, Protection of VVIPs/VIPs, handling Passport related matters.

    Presently District Special Branch, Palakkad is housed in three rooms in the ground floor of the                            DPO building, Palakkad.
