Came Into Existence
Mangalamdam PS started functioning on 18.6.1987 in a building allotted by the Irrigation Department. Inauguration of the station was held by the then Chief Minister Sri. E.K.Nayanar. This lies in Mangalamdam village of Alathur Taluk at the place Mangalamdam. The jurisdiction of the station is spread over 3 villages namely Mangalamdam, Vandazhy &ndashI and Kizhakkanchery &ndashII. Later station was shifted to the new building on 9.6.2007. it was inaugurated by Sri. Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, the then Home Minister. The land for station building, situated on the south side of Mangalamdam &ndashParassery road, has been allotted by Irrigation Department.

Mangalamdam

Mangalamdam water reservoir has been constructed on the Arivalkkayam River which originates from the Western ghats. This dam provides sufficient water for agriculture in Vandazhy, Kizhakkanchery, Vadakkanchery, Kannambra, Puthukkode etc. panchayaths. Main crops in these areas are paddy, rubber, coconut, plantains etc. This is a tourist destination.
