Came Into Existence
As per the records available, in the early beginnings of 1900, exactly before the year 1924, before the independence of India and under the rule of British Government, Cherpulassery Police Station has been started at Kacherikunnu, Cherpulassery. Cherpulassery was the Head Quarters of Valluvanad. In earlier days Government institutions like Magistrate Court, Registrar Office, Police Station etc. were being functioned in the common single place which was known as Kacheri and where Govt proceedings and lawsuits were prevailed. Due to this and also the geological features of this particular place, it was called Kacherikunnu (Station Hill)

Cherpulassery Police Station consists of 13 Amsams like Cherpulassery, Nellaya, Kulukkallur,Chalavara,Vellinezhi, Trikkaderi, Karelmanna, Mundakkottukurrissi, Ilayidath Madambu, Veeramangalam, Moothedath Madambu, Marayamangalam, Ezhuvanthala, Mulayankavu and 7 villages like Cherpulassery, Nellaya, Kulukkallur, Chalavara, Vellinezhi, and Trikkaderi I & II.. Total area of the Police Station limits is 41962.35 Squire Meter.

Thootha River ( Kunthipuzha )
 
Thootha River is one of the main tributaries of the Bharathapuzha River, the second-longest river in Kerala, south India. Kunthipuzha that flows through the Silent Valley National Park is one of its tributaries. Elamkulam, Thiruvegappura and Pulamanthole are places of importance situated on the bank of this river.Thootha River ( Kunthipuzha ) is the only river in Cherpulassery Police Station limits.

Janamaithri Suraksha Project
Janamythri Sureksha Project is implemented in Cherpulassery Panchayath and which was devided in to 10 beats and the Beat Officers and Asst. Beat officers are appointed under CRO and the project is successfully is being fuctioned in Cherpulassery Police Station. Sri. Manikandan, SCPO 3994 was selected the best beat officer in the State and Sri Ramesh Chennithala, Hon: Minister for Home Affairs, Kerala State awarded him the trophy to Sri Manikandan of Cherpulassery Police Station.
